10 – Crash Parallel – Sunset In Reverse
After a long time of waiting, Crash Parallel sophomore release was worth the wait. With more optimistic lyrics and melodies, the album is full of great pop-rock songs. Highlights: “In Your Eyes” (Peter Gabriel cover), “All Around”, “Sunset In Reverse”.
Após muitos anos de espera, o segundo álbum do Crash Parallel não decepcionou. Com melodias e letras muito mais otimistas que seu antecessor, o disco é recheado de ótimas faixas de pop-rock. Destaques: “In Your Eyes” (Peter Gabriel cover), “All Around”, “Sunset In Reverse”.
9 – Yellowcard – When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes
Yellowcard provided the best comeback album of 2011. After got lost a little in their later works, the band took a break and returned with an album more focused on their roots, with a most relevant participation of violinist Sean Mackin. Highlights: “The Sound of You and Me”, “Hang You Up”, “Soundtrack”.
O Yellowcard proporcionou o melhor álbum de retorno de 2011. Após perder-se um pouco em seus últimos trabalhos, a banda deu uma pausa e retornou com um álbum mais voltado às raízes, com uma aparição mais marcante do violinista Sean Mackin. Destaques: “The Sound of You and Me”, “Hang You Up”, “Soundtrack”.
8 – Foo Fighters – Wasting Light
Present in almost all the top albums lists of the year, it’s undeniable that Foo Fighters fulfilled their promise of making their best album since the band’s classic ‘The Colour And The Shape’. The band hit the nail on almost everything, creating an album that will remain in many people’s player for years. Highlights: “Rope”, “These Days”, “Walk”.
Presente em quase todas as listas de melhores do ano, é inegável que o Foo Fighters cumpriu sua promessa dizendo que este seria o melhor álbum da banda desde o clássico ‘The Colour & The Shape’. A banda acertou em praticamente tudo, criando um álbum que vai permanecer no player de muitas pessoas por anos. Destaques: “Rope”, “These Days”, “Walk”.
7 – The Decemberists – The King is Dead
With ‘The King is Dead’, The Decemberists showed why they’re one of the most acclaimed bands in recent years. Cohesive, well-crafted and virtually flawless, this is undoubtely the major folk release of the year. Highlights: “Rox In the Box”, “June Hymn”, “This is Why We Fight”.
Com ‘The King is Dead’, o Decemberists mostrou porquê é uma das bandas mais elogiadas dos últimos anos. Disco coeso, bem trabalhado e praticamente irretocável, sem dúvidas o grande lançamento folk do ano. Destaques: “Rox In the Box”, “June Hymn”, “This is Why We Fight”.
6 – Puscifer – Conditions Of My Parole
After a lot of experimentation and voice effects on the previous album, Maynard James Keenan decided to put his voice to work. ‘Conditions of My Parole’ is a surprising mixture of good electronic music with already known elements from the singer’s other projects, showing the whole range of musical knowledge he has. Highlights: “Green Valley”, “Telling Ghosts”, “Horizons”.
Depois de muita experimentação e efeitos de voz no álbum anterior, Maynard James Keenan resolveu colocar sua voz para trabalhar. ‘Conditions of My Parole’ surpreendeu por unir música eletrônica de qualidade com elementos já conhecidos dos outros projetos do cantor, mostrando toda diversidade de conhecimento musical que ele possui. 5 – Blue October – Any Man in America
Angry, desperate, sad, vengeful. These are some words that defines Blue October’s fifth album. Despite having too aggressive lyrics, it’s admirable Justin Furstenfeld’s courage to expose himself in so sincere ways. The most emotional album of the year, no doubt. Highlights: “The Feel Again (Stay)”, “The Honesty”, “The Worry List”.
Raivoso, desesperado, melancólico, vingador: estas são algumas palavras que definem o quinto álbum do Blue October. Apesar de ser excessivamente pesado, é admirável a coragem de Justin Furstenfeld em se expor de forma tão sincera. O disco mais emocional do ano, sem dúvidas. Destaques: “The Feel Again (Stay)”, “The Honesty”, “The Worry List”.
4 – Fair To Midland – Arrows & Anchors
For those who complain about originality in current rock scene, try listening to ‘Anchors & Arrows’ by Fair to Midland. The band does an incredible performance, where all the musicians stands out on an amazing album. A must listen! Highlights: “Musical Chairs”, “Rikki Tikki Tavi”, “Coppertank Island”.
Para aqueles que reclamam de originalidade no rock atual, experimente ouvir ‘Arrows & Anchors’ do Fair to Midland. A banda dá um verdadeiro show na performance, onde todos os músicos se destacam num álbum incrívelmente surpreendente. Obrigatório! Destaques: “Musical Chairs”, “Rikki Tikki Tavi”, “Coppertank Island”.
3 – Daughtry – Break the Spell
Despite the already known formula, Daughtry refined their style and made an album that is a dream for any alternative rock lover. A flawless album which demonstrates that Chris Daughtry isn’t just an American Idol constest anymore: he knows how to rock and has a long career ahead. Highlights: “Crawling Back to You”, “Break the Spell”, “Spaceship”.
Apesar da fórmula já conhecida, o Daughtry refinou seu estilo sonoro e fez um álbum que é um verdadeiro sonho para qualquer amante de rock alternativo. Um disco impecável que demonstra que Chris Daughtry já deixou há muito de ser apenas um participante do American Idol: ele sabe como fazer rock e possui uma longa carreira pela frente. Destaques: “Crawling Back to You”, “Break the Spell”, “Spaceship”.
2 – Needtobreathe – The Reckoning
Needtobreathe hasn’t made a single bad album in their career, and in ‘The Reckoning’ they reached their peak. Mixing elements of folk-country with the rock style present in the beginning of their career, the band perfectly fulfilled the high expectations around this album. Highlights: “Oohs and Aahs”, “Drive All Night”, “Keep Our Eyes Open”.
O Needtobreathe não fez um único álbum ruim até hoje, e em ‘The Reckoning’ a banda atingiu seu ápice. Misturando elementos de folk-country com o rock apresentado no começo de sua carreira, a banda cumpriu muito bem as altas expectativas ao redor desde álbum.
