When a band has a very successful debut album, they usually keep the same musical direction on their next work to consolidate themselves on that specific style. Besides, on their third album, most part of that bands tries to do something different, gaining some new fans as they lose some of the oldest and most nostalgic ones.

However what we see in 3 Doors Down is really rare in the music scene today. On their recently released fifth studio album ‘Time of My Life’ the band keeps the same formula since the beginning of its career. But don’t expect something boring and repetitive in here. From first to last track, one thing is very clear: 3 Doors Down’s a band that can evolve within their own style.

“Another day, in some other place, Can someone please remind me where the hell we are” // “But I’ve got to say there’s no other way, Cause I’m having the time of my life”. On the opening title track Brad Arnold makes clear that they might not know exactly where they’re and neither exactly where they’re going, but they’re living the best time of their lives. That really seems very clear throughout the album. Almost all the lyrics are about memories, going back home, youth or times that doesn’t come back anymore. “Heaven”, one of the album’s best tracks, is about the best time of their lives and everything that was left behind.

When you listen to some of ‘Time of My Life’ songs you’ll have the feeling that you’ve listened that exact same song in one of their previous albums. However making better songs time after time without changing its style just shows how talented and brilliant this band is.

Not just one of 3 Doors Down’s best set of songs ever, but also one of the best rock albums of the year so far.

Quando uma banda faz muito sucesso com o primeiro disco é muito comum vermos uma repetição da mesma sonoridade no trabalho seguinte, confirmando o estilo que a consagrou. Já no terceiro disco, as bandas costumam apostar em novos sons, e acabam ganhando mais fãs, enquanto perdem os mais antigos e nostálgicos.

Porém, o que vemos com o 3 Doors Down é algo realmente raro no cenário da música atual. Com seu recém lançado quinto disco ‘Time of My Life’ a banda continua apostando nas mesmas fórmulas que utiliza desde o início de sua carreira. Mas não espere ouvir um disco repetitivo e enjoativo. Da primeira à última faixa, uma coisa fica muito clara: o 3 Doors Down é uma banda que consegue evoluir dentro do próprio estilo.

“Another day, in some other place, Can someone please remind me where the hell we are” // “But I’ve got to say there’s no other way, Cause I’m having the time of my life”. Já na faixa de abertura, que leva o nome do disco, Brad Arnold deixa claro que eles podem não saber exatamente onde estão e nem ao certo para onde estão indo, mas o que ele tem certeza é de que a banda vive o melhor momento de suas vidas. E isso realmente parece muito claro ao longo do disco. Quase todas as letras falam de memórias, de voltar para casa, da juventude, de uma época que não volta mais. “Heaven”, um dos grandes momentos do disco, volta a falar do melhor momento de suas vidas, e de tudo o que ficou no caminho.

‘Time of My Life’ revisita toda a discografia da banda, nos fazendo ter certeza que já escutamos exatamente a mesma música em um dos discos anteriores, porém fazer músicas cada vez melhores sem mudar seu estilo só demonstra o quão talentosa e brilhante esta banda é.

Não apenas um dos melhores trabalhos do 3 Doors Down, como um dos melhores discos de rock do ano até aqui.
